I WAS most surprised to see a number 22 bus at the stop in Skelton on a Sunday.

Surprised because we do not have a Sunday service and our normal weekday bus is the number 27.

After complaining to bus company First I received a reply saying it is all down to City of York Council, and I should contact transport planner Terry Walker.

I have had many complaints from residents who have all experienced great difficulty in actually finding the 22 bus.

It does not leave from Stonebow like the 27 used to but from Piccadilly - there are no signs anywhere to inform anyone of this and even bus drivers, when asked, did not know.

One bus driver even said he did not know the routes or the bus times and if a member of the public could get hold of a timetable could he have a copy.

The timetable was posted on the First website on Monday, which is no help to those who don't have access to the Internet.

Why was there so much secrecy about the bus timetable and route changes throughout the city?

There may be improvements which benefit certain places so why were they not made public sooner? The council is supposed to be encouraging the use of public transport.
