Hamilton Panthers who just missed being promoted from division one last season lost 4-2 at home to Rufforth who were relegated from the top-flight last season.

Paul King gave Panthers an early lead. John Ayres equalised before the break and Paul Jones and a brace from Paul Moss gave Rufforth victory.

Panthers hit the woodwork three times before a late strike by James Anderson completed the scoring.

A goal two minutes into the start of each half, the first from Tom Robinson, the second from Lee Metcalfe, gave New Earswick a 2-0 win over Stamford Bridge.

Wilberfoss sneaked a 1-0 win at Selby RSSC with a 41st-minute goal from Jonno Parkin.

Norwich Union drew 2-2 at home to Crayke. Richard Hunter and Matt Devereaux scored for the home side, Tom Green and Justin Smith replying for Crayke.

Civil Service, who failed to win an away game last season, opened their division two campaign with a 2-1 victory at Elvington. Rob Evans got both goals for the visitors, while Tom Hovington scored for the villagers.

A Ben Janes first half hat-trick put Poppleton on their way to an 8-1 win at Strensall.

Mick Pipe reduced the deficit early in the second half but Craig Theaker bagged a hat-trick closely followed by a Craig Suttle penalty and the rout was completed by Chris Balmer.

Tockwith suffered their first ever Leeper Hare League defeat, losing 2-1 at home to Heslington. Simon Gatenby scored both Heslington's goals in the second half and Andy Wilson pulled one back five minutes from the end for Tockwith.

A Wayne Calvert penalty and two goals each from John Dunning and Bob Drewer set up Amotherby for a 5-3 win over Stillington. Sam Gregory (2) and Derek Jones netted for the losers.

Rob Murphy converted an early penalty for Fulford. Brothers Alastair and Stuart Ramsey put Ouseburn in front. Steve Cooper equalised before the break. Russell Robshore got the winner 20 minutes from time.
