MEMBERS of the clergy swapped the pulpit for the kitchen at the York Festival of Food & Drink this weekend.
The Rev Lesley Morley pitted his cheese souffl cooking skills against Canon Brian Abell at the Theatre Caf in St Sampson's Square.
The men were representatives of the latest profession to take to the stage, with journalists from the Evening Press and local head teachers also showing off their talents during the festival.
Organiser Annette Oliver said there was little between the two clergymen and it was impossible to pick a winner.
She said: "Last year the Acting Dean of York Minster, Glyn Webster, won the cooking competition - it remains to see whether there will be divine help for the clergy this year."
Meanwhile, a whisky masterclass will be held at Melton's Too restaurant, Walmgate, York, tomorrow, from 7pm, as part of the festival. Tickets cost £20.
Yorkshire food fans can also try a range of local produce at the Theatre Caf, until the festival ends on Sunday.
