HUANYIN (or welcome in Mandarin) to this group of college graduates from Beijing, China, who have moved to York to become their nation's managers of the future.

Eight students, aged 20 and 21, flew this month from Pilot College in Beijing to study management at York St John College.

During their two years of study in York they will focus on marketing communications, international business and human resource management. The group chose to come to York St John because of the international emphasis of its management programme.

Steve Watson, joint head of programme, said he was pleased with progress so far. He said: "These students have only been here a couple of weeks, but they love York and have settled in at college extremely well."

The business management programme at York St John College attracts students from home and abroad, and welcomes applications from local people as well as internationals.
