NEW Earswick All Blacks ARL Club ended Newsome Panthers' four-year unbeaten run with a 20-18 victory at White Rose Avenue.

First blood in a tight Pennine League division two match went to All Blacks when Alan Pallister forced his way over from acting half. Dave Carling added the kick.

Newsome hit back five minutes before half-time with a try and five minutes into the second half they went in front with a try out wide.

All Blacks hit back when scrum half Carl Pallister forced his way over to make it 10-8.

The best move of the match ended with centre Dan Wellard scoring in the corner and All Blacks looked to have tied the game up on 68 minutes when prop Jo Jo Hnesh crashed over and Carling's goal made it 20-8.

But Newsome responded with a converted try and All Blacks then had full back Carling to thank after he dived on a ball when Newsome looked certain to score.

Alan Pallister was sin-binned for an offence at the play the ball after 78 minutes but All Blacks hung on until the dying seconds when Newsome scored a try from a very kickable position but the effort hit a post and All Blacks celebrated victory.

Jamie Rhodes was New Easrwick's man-of-the-match closely followed by Chris Judge and new signing Rowan Wallace-Hill.

Heworth 'A' edged out Sharlston 'A' 8-2 in a close Yorkshire League division three encounter at Elm Park Way.

Defences were on top but the Villagers scored two tries through Tony Southerington and Mark Watkinson, who raced 50 metres for his touchdown.

Danny Flint shone at full-back and there was a good tackling stint from Paul Gill, Phil Marwood and Neil Atkinson, while Liam Stagnall and Robbie Burns offered good support.
