Selby Warriors Amateur Rugby League Club made it two wins from two away games with a battling six-point win at West Craven Warriors.

Selby scored straight from the kick-off after a well-rehearsed move saw Wayne Fennel and Nick Weaver combine for Weaver to touch down in the corner.

Fennel kicked his first of four goals and then put Selby ahead with a try of their own, West Craven having pulled level.

A brawl took Selby forwards Ramskill and Sowden into the sin bin and out of the equation, leaving West Craven to get in front with two tries, but Jason Robey and captain Carl Bardauskas restored the Selby advantage to 22-20 at half time.

Fennel again crossed to stretch the lead but West Craven - last year's division six winners - were soon back on terms, although a much tighter defence barred further progress.

With 15 minutes remaining, hooker Sowden passed to prop Paul Friar, who barged past three tacklers to dive over and settle the tie.
