POLICE are seeking witnesses after a firebomb attack on a restaurant near York early on Saturday.
The fire at the Jinnah restaurant at Flaxton, near York, happened at about 3.20am.
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said two small homemade explosive devices were planted in the restaurant, one of which set fire to an external door in the restaurant.
A member of the public who saw the fire from the road alerted the emergency services.
Six members of staff were evacuated from the building safely.
No one was injured in the incident, and there was only superficial damage to the building.
Anyone who passed the restaurant on the A64 between York and Malton between 2.30 and 3.30am, or who has information about the fire, should phone police on 0845 6060247.
