THE village show day caused Rosedale to switch their home clash with Duncombe Park to Danby but it did not stop the RJF Homes Beckett Football League team from moving up to third in the first division table.

Rosedale, whose pitch was in a poor state after the show, beat Park 3-1 thanks to a thumping John Tindall header and two goals from birthday boy Matthew Farrow.

Union Rovers enjoyed their second win of the season, winning 3-1 at Kirkbymoorside Reserves after Pete Tiffany's hat-trick. Andrew Ferguson got Moorsiders' late consolation.

St Clement's WMC won their first league game with John Dale's penalty and a John Allcock effort securing a 2-1 win at Coxwold, whose captain Adrian Leckenby replied from the spot.

A Michael Brown brace earned Old Malton 3rds a 2-0 derby victory over Norton United Reserves.

In the first round of the Ryedale Hospital Cup, Kirkdale United ran out 4-1 winners at Heslerton. Christian Walton, Paddy Robinson, Ian Prendergast and Matthew Dzierzek were on the scoresheet, as was Heslerton's Jack Meegan.

Gillamoor lost 5-2 to unbeaten Scarborough and District League high-fliers Newcastle Packet in the Scarborough and District FA Junior Cup. Mathew Hepton and Lee Nesfield got the consolations in the first round tie and goalkeeper Steve Bentley made an excellent debut.

Sinnington won a North Riding CFA Saturday Challenge Cup clash for the first time with goals from Jonathon Brown and Lee Mitchell clinching a 2-0 first round win at home to Annandale Hotel.

Aislaby United lost 4-1 at Copmanthorpe, Ryedale SC went down 2-1 at home to Mars Inn, Great Ouseburn beat Black Swan Pickering 3-0 and Thornton-Le-Dale triumphed 4-0 at Stokesley despite several outstanding saves from home keeper Rob Featherstone.
