YORK City boss Chris Brass is hoping his side can carry on scoring in front of the Sky cameras tonight.

Brass waited 55 games before the Minstermen scored three goals in a single match under his tenure.

But Saturday's 3-1 victory against Stevenage Borough came less than a month after the 3-0 triumph at Dagenham and Redbridge and just seven days after a 2-0 Conference win at Burton.

The improvement in the side's creating and taking of chances has coincided with Brass' use of two out-and-out wingers and the City manager is hoping his team will broadcast its new emphasis on attacking football in front of a live television audience tonight.

He said: "I think Lee Nogan and Andy Bishop are developing quite a good partnership at the moment and, with Paul Robinson and Bryan Stewart helping them, it has given us a good attacking feel to the side."

Bishop has scored in both of City's last two league fixtures after taking ten matches to open his account and Nogan ended a 20-game drought - stretching back to February - with a goal against Stevenage.

Brass is now backing his player-coach to add to that tally in coming weeks, saying: "His last goal was against Lincoln but he's come in and done well.

"Against Leigh, he was the first to admit he should have taken at least one of his chances but he's kept his performance levels okay and has helped Andy Bishop. Lee likes to score goals and will always get himself in good areas.

"Like Andy, he could now have a purple patch and he will get more goals."

Football League scouts are believed to be monitoring 21-year-old striker Bishop's progress and Brass is hoping that the team's talented teenagers David Stockdale, Graeme Law and Stewart will also parade their skills to a wider audience tonight.

He said: "Our young players are not in the team to make the numbers up. They deserve their shirts and have now got to keep them.

"Part of their learning curve will come in front of the cameras. They have got to throw themselves into the spotlight.

"People are starting to look at our good youngsters. I want them to do well but, obviously, it's a double-edged sword because you want to keep the vultures away and I don't want to get rid of anybody.

"The older players are also playing important roles. They may not be grabbing headlines or standing out but they are having quiet words in ears and giving assurance. They are giving an ethos to take into the rest of their careers not just this season."

Brass, fully recovered now from his back problem, is likely to be a substitute again tonight despite scoring a goal after leaving the dugout against Stevenage.

He added: "It's an interesting one for me. I have faith in the team but I always want to be out there as well."

Skipper Steve Davis and Kevin Donovan are still sidelined but on-loan defender David McGurk is still available.

Darlington defenders Joey Hutchinson and Curtis Fleming have both been injured since McGurk's temporary switch but the 22-year-old centre back cannot be recalled until after the Canvey Island home game a week on Saturday.
