CITY of York Council will definitely lose any respect I have for it if that well-used path behind St Peter's School is closed.
I thought public rights of way were set in stone for centuries at least. Why are they called public rights of way if councils have the power to close them?
The path is an ideal short-cut to York Station (saving the taxi fare, if one is travelling fairly light). I imagine youth-hostellers in the know use it too.
Most importantly to me, it's a pleasant, peaceful and perhaps shorter alternative route to town from Clifton.
I sometimes like to be away from the noise and the bustle of the main road.
