Neil Caywood is the York Unique-Phoenix Darts League division one Individual Champion after defeating the hot favourite, Sun Inn's Chris Thompson.

Caywood took the first leg in 23 darts after both players exchanged tons and wasted chances on the double.

Thompson immediately hit back with a 78 out-shot for a superb 17 darts, before Caywood regained the lead with another 23-darter. In the fourth leg, Thompson had several chances to level, but Caywood hit the all-important double to capture the title.

Acorn ARL player Lee Brundrett is the division two Individual Champion after a 3-1 defeat of Flag's Steve Simpson.

Thompson enjoyed ample consolation for his singles defeat in both the pairs and triples.

Scores of 100, 100 and 140 from both him and Jon O'Mara gave Sun Inn a 21-darter in a comfortable 2-0 win to retain the Pairs Championship. The Phoenix pairing of Sean and Paul Robinson had no answer to better the scoring prowess of the Sun duo.

The Sun team of Thompson, O'Mara and Dave Gibbons, also took the Triples Cham-pionship with a 2-0 victory over Nick Harteveld, John Smith and Dean Smallwood, of Hospital Social Club 'A'.

Sun took the first leg with ease then sealed the win after HSC had done well in the early stages of the second leg.
