It seems that we are considered slightly "off the wall" to anyone that meets us, and visitors to our home are usually too polite to mention the life-size Elvis cut-outs that adorn our walls, so it seemed the most natural thing in the world to spend the evening with other eccentrics, all wanting to

celebrate the music of the King!

In reality, we were among the only five people dressed up. We expected a packed house, but sadly there were only about 200 people eager enough to pledge their evening to Elvis.

The format was simple - a huge screen beaming the words to the songs across the theatre and intermittently showing the audience in all their glory, mimicking a live Elvis concert.

There were two Elvises - or is that Elvi? - Fergus and Roy, no surnames offered, each providing quite realistic voices and outfits. On arrival at the theatre we were given a goody bag containing props for the evening. There was a plastic "clacker" rattle, a party popper, a flag to wave, a paper tissue, a small plastic trumpet and two pieces of card with the words Hup, two, three and four written on both sides. Oh, I nearly forgot - there was an air guitar in the bag too!

The guys were joined on stage by two backing singers, Amanda and Jo, who danced the night away with such vigour that I fully expected them to just disappear into a puddle at the end of the show. Their dance routines weren't exactly reminiscent of the old Elvis concerts, but were very, very entertaining.

We all sang to the songs, using the props along the way, and realising at times that the words we've always belted out to the records and at weddings, were not ACTUALLY the right ones! Everyone seemed to have had a great time as bottles of champagne were given out to various people across the night, but what happened to the fancy dress judging?
