ALL Saints School, York, were all smiles after the first inter-school netball tournament on Saturday, with both their 'A' and 'B' teams winning.
Eight schools battled it out in the first round of the English Schools' Under-14s competition at Joseph Rowntree School in a tournament that went down to the last three rounds to decide who would go forward to represent the city.
Joseph Rowntree and Queen Margaret's drew 3-3 to increase the tension, and, while All Saints won their final two games to seal the trophy, the runners-up had to turn to goal difference to qualify with Jo Ro sneaking second place by the narrowest of margins.
The winning team comprised Kirstie Anderson, Ashleigh Glew, Hannah Wintie, Grace McCormick (capt), Ranui Harmer, Natalie Khan, Alex Kilbride, Calista Hutchinson-Jones.
Both All Saints and Joseph Rowntree will now go through to the county round at Scarborough on Saturday, November 20.
Final placings: 1 All Saints, 2 Joseph Rowntree, 3 Queen Margaret's, 4 The Mount, 5 Manor, 6 Millthorpe, 7 Archbishop's, 8 Huntington.
All Saints 'B' wrapped up a good day for the school after topping the 'B' tournament. On court were: Alex Kew, Amy Ibbotson, Charlotte King, Sophie Evans, Amy Yockney, Fatima Hussein, Leah McKeown, Natalie Klays.
Final placings: 1 All Saints, 2 Queen Margaret's, 3 Millthorpe 'B', 4 Millthorpe 'C', 5 Joseph Rowntree 'B', 6= Joseph Rowntree 'C', 6= Manor, 8 Huntington, 9 Archbishop's Holgate's.
