SCARBOROUGH eventually overcame a Northwich Victoria side which has yet to win in the Nationwide Conference this season last night.

Neil Redfearn set Boro on their way to a 3-0 victory with a first-half penalty when Kevin Townson was fouled by Mark Foran.

But before his opener Jonny Allen had missed a sitter for the visitors when he was clean through on goal.

For much of the second half, it looked likely that Northwich would equalise.

Striker Mark Quayle, on his return to the McCain Stadium, was denied by a brilliant save from Peter Keen and later hit the bar with a header.

In addition, Kieran Charnock sent two close range headers wide, as Boro were put on the back foot.

However, the introduction of super-sub Chris Senior once again turned the game for Boro.

The diminutive striker scored two goals in two minutes, both with his head, to settle the match.

His first header rebounded from the underside of the bar, with the linesman indicating it had crossed the line and his second header beat Andy Ralph at the far post.

By now Northwich were totally dispirited and Steve Burton went close to increasing the lead twice in the last five minutes.

Boro coach Nicky Henry said: "It was one of our worst performances of the season but we got the rub of the green with a couple of decisions and it was another clean sheet."
