CONSTRUCTION and engineering firm William Birch & Sons Ltd, of Osbaldwick, is celebrating its 150th year of changing the skyline of the region.
Founded in 1874, the firm now has a £20 million turnover, employs 100 people and has a range of successful development projects under its belt, including the £500,000 refurbishment of the Turkish Baths at Harrogate, the Tannery at York and the visitor centre at Whitby Abbey. Managing director Chris Birch said: "The philosophy of quality work, with retained knowledgeable and experienced staff, has remained consistent at the company throughout the years and that is why it continues to offer a flexible and value-for-money service."
The company moved from Foss Islands Road to new premises at Osbaldwick two years ago, and is expanding its Leeds operation.
