Can he do it again? Calcutta, winner of the betfair.com Handicap a year ago, returns to Knavesmire tomorrow in a bid to produce an encore in the £20,000 feature event.

The eight-year-old, having been in the wildnerness earlier this season, bounced back to form on this course last month in claiming company.

That victory seemed to light the blue touch paper once more because Calcutta followed-up in a much tougher race at Doncaster on St Leger day in a handicap he had won twice previously.

A stalwart of Barry Hills' stable, Calcutta has plenty on his plate trying to concede weight all round tomorrow but is fancied to give it a big shot with trainer's son Michael taking the mount as usual.

Go Tech is another horse on a hat-trick mission in the Garbutt & Elliott Handicap.

Tim Easterby's gelding ended a two-year winnerless sequence when landing a decent handicap at Pontefract last month and followed-up in style at Redcar last Saturday.

Clearly on a high, Go Tech has a 6lb penalty to overcome tomorrow, but promises to be hard to beat in any case. David Allan again has the mount.

Ingleton should not be overlooked in the opening Acorn Web Offset Nursery over six furlongs.

Trained by Bryan McMahon, the two-year-old took time to overcome an aversion to starting stalls, but the patience of connections was rewarded at Ayr last month when Ingleton battled home a gritty winner of a maiden race. There could be more to come from this lightly-raced youngster, who tackles a handicap for the first time here.

Danny Tudhope, who is apprenticed to trainer Declan Carroll at Warthill, just outside York, has adopted a good rapport with Playful Dane, who has excellent prospects in the Parsonage Country House Hotel Handicap.

Twice a winner in his last four starts, Playful Dane ran really well in defeat at Redcar on Saturday and is still in fine heart. The seven-year-old, trained by Scott Cunningham, is napped to return to winning ways in this five-furlong dash.

Tudhope has another good chance aboard Night Sight in the Green Howards Cup Apprentices' Handicap.

Sue Lamyman's seven-year-old has run creditably in both his races since scoring at Thirsk last month. At his best in a strongly-run race, he should have things to suit him in this big field.

The promising Pivotal's Princess gets the vote in the betfair.com Maiden Stakes.

The two-year-old, who has finished in the frame in both her races this season can make it third time lucky in the hands of Darryll Holland.

Friday's tips:
