I WOULD like to comment on the story you published regarding the poor bus service in the Malton Road area (October 4).
The situation is just as bad, if not worse, around the nearby New Lane area of Huntington.
With the recent timetable changes, the excellent 26 service has now been replaced with the 13 that appears to either run late, or not at all.
In addition, the 16 service now doesn't run in this area until after 8am, which isn't very convenient for early travelers to the city.
How public transport planner Terry Walker can describe these timetable changes as "improvements" is beyond me.
Having said this though, I am actually against placing an extra Park & Ride stop along Malton Road, because I believe this service should just act as a fast shuttle service to help cut down congestion.
Instead, the existing services should be extended to improve what is, at peak times, a very busy bus service.
