STAND-OFF Scott Rhodes is on tenterhooks as to whether or not he will be able to meet up with the Scotland squad for the forthcoming European Nations Cup.

The 24-year-old's crowd-pleasing antics in a York City Knights shirt this season have been rewarded with a call up to the Scotland squad for the upcoming series.

But he is only on stand-by with a niggling injury to his right shoulder threatening to keep him out of contention with the decision resting on a specialist.

He said: "I have had a couple of chats with Richard Thewlis (Scotland manager) about it. It's the second game he wants me to play in, in Ireland, but I don't know whether I will be able to play yet.

"I have had a bad shoulder for a while now and it's basically all down to the surgeon. If he says I need surgery then I won't be going.

"I've had an MRI scan and x-rays and we're just waiting for the results.

"I look forward to playing every game whether it's for York or for Scotland but it's always nice to get picked for representative rugby. It will be quite a big game as well because it's like a home international."

If Rhodes does get the thumbs up from the specialist, he will be reunited with former Knights half back Danny Brough, who signed for Super League giants Hull FC this week.

The call up rounds off a quality season for the stand-off, who was presented with the club's players' player award on Friday night.
