Ainsty Panthers put on a suberb display to outclass last season's John Smith's York and District League first division champions Severus SC.

A Mark Willoughby scorcher five minutes before half-time put Ainsty one up. Woodward levelled for Severus soon after the break only for Paul King to restore the home side's lead. Willoughby bagged his second and Barron completed a 4-1 win.

Marcia moved to the top when they came from a goal down to record a 3-1 win over Derwent United. Bradshaw had given the visitors the lead but then two own goals gifted Marcia the advantage which was secured when Ian Kettlewell added the third.

Hounds' defence is still unbreached after their latest win by 5-0 over Blacksmiths Arms - Clayton (2), Cygan, Jackson and Forrest the scorers.

In division two, a full-blooded encounter saw Edward VII retain their 100 per cent record with a 6-2 win at home to Nestl Flag.

An Eddie Phillips header opened the scoring only for Pears to level for the visitors. Dransfield and Franks made it 3-1 before Dyson pulled one back from the spot to give Flag some hope just before the break. That hope was dashed as Phillips scored again and Dransfield completed his hat-trick with two more in the second period.

Two goals from Stephen Jackson and one from Mark Triffitt gave Deramore Arms a 3-1 half-time lead at Shipton, whose reply came from a delightful chip by Blake. The second half belonged to Blake as he scored three more to give Shipton a 4-3 win.

Williams bagged a treble and Paul Taylor a brace as Hemingbrough put seven past Acomb SC, Hill scoring their consolation. Danny Gray scored twice as Acomb WMC beat Boot & Slipper 5-3.

Shaun Charlton scored two as Shoulder of Mutton beat Copmanthorpe 8-3 to go top of division three.

Bishopthorpe are level on points after Broadbent's latest hat-trick helped them to a 6-4 win over Inland Revenue for whom Alistair Burn scored a second half treble.

Nigel Croad bagged a brace as Hambleton won 3-1 at home to The Plough, while Barlby ended Fulford's unbeaten start to the season when goals from Hughes and Scott secured a 2-1 win, Joe Smart scoring for Fulford.

Heworth gained their first points with a 4-0 win at Beeswing courtesy of a couple from Sullivan and one apiece for Coop and Mason.

In the one remaining John Smiths Bitter Cup tie Volunteer Arms came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 courtesy of goals from Clamp, Leach and Bonarius, Eeles and Bond scoring Pocklington's goals.
