THREE wins by Paul Eastwood couldn't prevent York and District Table Tennis League division one leaders Bootham Conservative Club 'A' losing 6-4 to second-placed Holgate WMC 'A'.

John Farmery and John Eastwood each scored two wins for Holgate.

John Hughes and Mark Blackburn each won three as York RI 'B' beat their 'C' team 8-2.

There were three wins each for Jim Robe and Dave Jackson as Groves 'B' trounced Poppleton 'B' 9-1.

Richard Moss won three for Poppleton 'A', but his side still went down 6-4 to Groves WMC 'A'. University were well beaten at Coneysthorpe 'A' 9-1.

In division two Holgate WMC 'B' lead after their 6-4 win over Nestl Rowntree 'A' 6-4, Ed Wardman was the star man for Holgate winning all three for them. Bootham Conservative Club 'B', in second place, had a 7-3 win over Poppleton 'C', Richard Ingleby taking all three for Bootham.

Rod Lowery won three for Northern Electric in their 5-5 draw with York RI 'E'.

Groves WMC 'C' scored their first win of the season, beating Poppleton 'D' 7-3, with Steve Long and Chris Hutchinson each winning three for Groves.

Bootham Conservative Club 'C' lead division three after winning 9-1 away to Holgate WMC 'D'.

There was a surprise first defeat of the season for Ray Mitchell, who went down to Colin Dickson 11-13 11-8 10-12 8-11. Steve Milner and Gareth Bryning were undefeated for Bootham.

Shepherds 'B', in second place, drew 5-5 with York RI 'F'. Jim Logan played well to win three for Shepherds.

John Temple won three for Holgate WMC 'C' in their 8-2 win over York RI 'G'.

Three wins each from John Lloyd and Richard Collier helped Poppleton 'E' to an 8-2 win over Shepherds 'C'.

Groves WMC 'D', the leaders in division four, had a 9-1 win over York RI 'I' and a 10-0 win over Poppleton 'F'.

Poppleton 'G', in second place, beat Norwich Union 'B' 8-2, Tom Wright and Jon Soanes each winning three for Poppleton.

York RI 'H' and Norwich Union 'B' drew 5-5. John Stokes won three for Sessions 'C' in their 6-4 win over York RI 'K'.

Chris Megan won three for York RI 'H' in their 7-3 win over York RI 'I'.
