HUNTINGTON School sisters Vicky and Charlotte Myers have navigated their way to more national orienteering success.

Year 8 student Charlotte was crowned the British Schools Score Champion at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire, while 14-year-old sister Vicky finished third in a combined Year 10 and 11 category - the first year 10 student home.

Charlotte, 12, went through all 20 controls within the 30-minute time frame to take maximum points and improve on her second place of last year, while Vicky completed 28 of 30 controls in 45 minutes. She won her age group last time out but has another year to take the combined age title.

Both are members of the York and Humberside junior squad and also run for York club Eborienteers with Vicky in light green status events and Charlotte in orange.

Hat-trick hero Alex Needham was the star of the show in York Under-11 Schoolboys' 3-0 defeat of Gateshead.

York and Gateshead unsuccessfully traded blows at the start of a tight first half before Needham nipped in just before the break to send the hosts 1-0 up.

The second half saw York dominate for long periods and they were rewarded for their efforts when Needham collected his second from close range. A display of pace and power from the young striker saw him latch onto a through ball to seal his hat-trick.

Luke Quantock put in a strong performance at centre back while Tim Patton excelled on the right.
