PRIDE of place in the York FA Intermediate Under-14 Minor Cup second round went to nine-man Haxby Town.

Despite their numerical disadvantage they went ahead against Pocklington Town through Max Richards.

In the second half, Pocklington's extra players began to tell and they clinched victory with two goals from Ashley Newton, but a stirring performance by Haxby goalkeeper David Nicholson prevented any further goals.

There was an even game between Dunnington and Real Cliffe and it was 20 minutes before the deadlock was broken by a great header by Dunnington's Robert Chipps.

Five minutes from time Real Cliffe equalised and then straight from the restart Dunnington regained the lead and victory when Simon Castle chipped the Cliffe 'keeper from ten yards.

Wheldrake, surprise winners in round one of the York FA Junior Minor Cup were knocked out by a stronger Easingwold outfit in round two.

Ben Ryder, Alexander Blair, George McNelsh and Nathan Kiernan were on target in a 4-0 win.

Poppleton proved too strong for York RI, winning 8-0 at New Lane.

Wigginton Grasshoppers took an eighth minute lead against Hamilton Panthers with a great shot from outside the area from Rob Bates. Panthers fought back well but Grasshoppers ran out 4-2 victors with further goals from Shaun Wilson, Liam Morrison and Mike Brown.

Goals were the order of the day in the York FA Intermediate Under-15 Minor Cup second round match between Pocklington Town and Tadcaster Magnets.

It was 6-6 after extra-time and the game was decided on a penalty shoot-out with Pocklington 'keeper Taylor Graham saving one penalty and then netting his side's final spot kick for Pock to win 5-4 on penalties.

Chris Thompson netted six goals for Heworth as they defeated Old Malton 7-0 with Glenn Thompson also scoring.

Nestl Rowntree 'A' took a first-half lead against Huntington with a close range effort from Danny Penrose and Tom Magee sealed a 2-0 win when he cut in from the left and fired into the top corner.

Sam Harrison of Fulford struck a hat-trick as his side beat Copmanthorpe 4-2 with Scott Nichols netting the other Fulford goal.

Brooklyn were soon two goals up against Tadcaster Albion in their York FA Acaster Steel Cup second round tie thanks to Alister Fothergill and Edward Marwood.

But Albion fought back strongly to level with goals from Toby Strangeway and Simon Dale.

However, before half-time Brooklyn had restored their two-goal advantage with a further goal from Marwood and a cracking shot by Ryan Boyd from just ten yards inside his opponents' half.

In the second half, Brooklyn added further goals from Matthew Reeves and Boyd while Andrew Maxted added a late score for Albion but Brooklyn won 6-3.

Bishopthorpe White Rose were always on top against neighours Copmanthorpe and ran out 5-0 victors with goals from Stevie Hood (2), James Edmond, Tommy Sanderson and Adam Thornton.

With four Hamilton Panthers junior teams being knocked out of various FA Cups it was left to their Under-12s to progress to the next round, when goals by Joe Porter and Tommy Medd defeat Heworth 2-1. Adam Stelmach netted for Heworth.
