IN response to your story "Bin your litter" (October 28). York Council should take a look at the photo I took a year ago (above) .
It shows a back lane behind Arthur Street, off Lawrence Street, a stone's throw away from Nicholas Fields which the council often brags about, being clean and tidy, and rightly so.
I lived at the top of the lane for 23 years. Then, the lane was weeded once a week, by the same young man, and, it was spotless.
Two years before I moved a couple of streets away, the weeding stopped, and I know for a fact the lane hasn't been cleaned for 17 years.
I would like to know who, if anybody is going to take the blame.
I know this lane is out of the way, and not a tourist attraction but it is still the council's job to keep it clean.
