SHOCKS were rare in the Leeper Hare York and District Football League's Reserve Cup.

The nearest to a second round upset was at Civil Service where the Reserve 'D' hosts were leading Dunnington 2-1 at the interval, courtesy of an own goal and a Mark Lund strike. Dunnington levelled with two goals from Anthony Downing but Civil Service restored their lead through Dave Lund.

Reserve 'A' Dunnington gradually took control as Downing completed his hat-trick, Paul Gordon grabbed two goals and Dave Kitchen and Paul Fowler all found the back of the net before Lund hit his second for Civil Service.

Cup holders Dringhouses were pushed all the way against a young Rufforth side but goals from Steve Cross, Mark Radcliffe and one from top Reserve 'A' scorer Andy Barkway sealed a 3-1 win.

Four goals from New Earswick's Mark Crangle and a hat-trick from John Conroy ensured that Reserve 'C' White Horse would not spring any surprises as their Reserve 'A' foes won 8-0 with Simon Archer completing the scoring

Reserve 'C' side Wilberfoss will consider themselves unfortunate to meet Reserve 'A' Huntington for the second successive week.

In the York FA Cup last week Huntington ran out winners 9-0 and they almost repeated the scoreline, this time hitting seven without reply with Chris Dower hitting five and Mark Gamble two.

The outcome of the derby duel at Pocklington was in the balance until the final ten minutes when the hosts snatched two goals to ensure their place in the next round.

A Tom Gibson goal for Barmby Moor had cancelled out Martin Richardson's first half strike. Though Wayne Johnstone restored Pock's lead on the hour, the Reserve 'B' side went close to surprising their neighbours before both Richardson and Johnstone scored again late in the game.
