YORK Acorn duo Mick Embleton and Johnny Waldron will gain BARLA Great Britain honours tomorrow night, writes Peter Martini.
Former York City Knights player Embleton has been selected for the British Amateur Rugby League Association Under-23s team and flying winger Waldron is in the Under-21s side for their respective representative matches.
Both teams will play against Combined Services representative sides at their respective age groups, at Schofield Grove, Eccles.
The Under-23s game kicks off at 5.30pm and the Under-21s, which is an inaugural fixture, starts at 7.30pm.
Acorn coach Dave Kay said: "They're well-deserved rewards for both players. They have been outstanding this season and a big part of last season.
"It's good for the club as well to be getting this kind of recognition, and I think one or two other players here could be pushing for places if they keep up their present form."
Embleton and Waldron face two games in under 24 hours as they will then travel with the Blue and Golds for the top-of-the-table league clash away to Ince Rosebridge on Saturday.
