Having been contracted to EMI Records since 1958, this is Cliff's first album for Decca.
So, does this mark a new age of independence and risks? For the first time, he has recorded in Nashville, capital of country music. Connoisseurs of the genre will recognise songwriters Gary Burr, Chris Eaton and David Mullen, who have furnished Cliff with a dozen quality songs, which suit his warm vocals.
Fans will adore Thousand Miles To Go, What Car and Simplicity, all vintage Cliff. But the highlight is the lush, melodic duet with Barry Gibb, I Cannot Give You My Love, just waiting for the number one spot. Surely a full album's collaboration should be on the cards.
