I HAVE just returned home from a fruitless attempt to have a swim at Edmund Wilson.
The pool was closed due to a lighting problem.
I'm told "don't go to Yearsley", it's shut, due to a chlorine problem.
I go home make a coffee and read the headline in my Evening Press, "Pool Fury": the Barbican pool is going to be smaller than the one that closed (November 9). I can't say I'm shocked.
What is it with York, sorry aka "Smallville". The only pool that could hold York City Baths Club galas (a major revenue provider) is Edmund Wilson, but one gents and one ladies toilet and no catering - what a joke.
I know of Dringhouses people who swim at Tadcaster and Acomb people who go to Knaresborough.
What about at least an eight lane by 25 metres at Barbican, with full spectator needs catered for? I won't hold my breath.
