BURTON Stone Lane, Avenue Terrace and Avenue Road have recently been visited by the city "yellow line squad".

While having the desired effect of keeping these streets accessible to traffic, the painting of double yellow lines has had the undesired but predictable effect of forcing drivers to find alternative parking.

We now find that the access to our property is regularly hampered by those desperate to find a place to park their vehicles while they conduct their business in the city or at the local schools.

The way that vehicles are parked allows no access for emergency services and is a danger to local residents and property.

While the entrance to De Grey Terrace was painted with double yellow lines on both sides, the access road to Burton Court and Burton Croft has none, thereby resulting in congestion seen in the photograph printed above.

The council needs to study the impact of the recent changes to on-street parking, the impact on local residents and come up with a more practical solution than the current one which is in this particular case is creating a serious access problem.
