Yorkshire County Cricket Club will attend a major cricket conference which Bradford Council are planning to hold in the city on a date to be arranged in the New Year.
The county club's involvement followed yesterday's visit to Headingley by a delegation of Bradford North Area Committee councillors which came about as a result of Bradford North MP Terry Rooney's comments in the House of Commons that Yorkshire were guilty of "deep-rooted, embedded racism".
At a no-holds-barred meeting, Yorkshire officials explained to delegates what the club are doing to promote youth cricket among all sections of the community and they then gave councillors a tour of the indoor facilities at Headingley.
After the visit, councillors generally seemed impressed with what they had heard while, for their part, Yorkshire accepted that there was a perception of racism within the club among the ethnic community.
