We already have restricted parking in the vicinity of the public bowling greens. There are plans to reduce the parking even further at Clarence Gardens and the proposed residents parking scheme in the Scarcroft Road area (Evening Press November 25) will make it even worse.

Is this a devious way of making savings in future Leisure Services budgets? If the bowlers and croquet players cannot get near to the greens they will look for alternative sites to play their sports.

This would lead to the public greens being underused and would give the council an ideal opportunity to close the greens and save on maintenance. Bowling at national level is seeing a decline in numbers and actions like this at local level make the situation even worse.
