SATURDAY'S RJF Homes Beckett Football League programme was tinged with sadness as two players suffered broken legs.

Gillamoor's second division home game with Ryedale Sports Club had to be abandoned after 34 minutes due to a serious injury to Karl Richardson.

The Gillamoor player was taken to Middlesbrough Hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and had an operation on Sunday morning.

Second-placed Ryedale were leading 3-0 at the time after goals from John Reed (2) and John Sherwood.

Elsewhere, Kirkdale United's 2-0 Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy quarter-final win at Sinnington was tarnished by Paddy Robinson's broken leg injury.

Robinson had earlier created the first goal with a great pass to Uhi Ehiha and Ashley Windress was also on target.

All of Saturday's ties ended in away wins with Old Malton Thirds fighting back after a Matt Warriner goal to beat Ampleforth thanks to Danny Bulmer and Phil Smith.

Union Rovers won 6-1 at Carlton United despite an outstanding display by home goalkeeper Ali Wildash.

Four-goal Pete Tiffany, Richard Abbey and substitute Glyn Brown were on the scoresheet.

Coxwold forged ahead through teenager James Turton in their home tie with Aislaby United despite playing the whole first half with just ten men.

But Adam Hornby, Kenny Temple, Alex McRae and Nick Wilkinson replied to give Aislaby victory.

In the first division, all three fixtures ended in draws.

Rosedale were unfortunate not to taste victory, hitting both crossbars and a post in their goal-less clash against Thornton-le-Dale.

Chris Drummond's last-minute penalty earned Heslerton a point and cancelled out Steve Sailes' goal for Black Swan, Pickering.

Duncombe Park led 2-0 at half time against Kirkbymoorside Reserves with Steve Garbutt and Lee Otterburn the marksman.

But Rob McDermid and Nicky Thurlow - with an 18-yard shot that somehow slipped under the body of Park keeper Andy Caine - saw the Moorsiders fight back for a share of the spoils.

In the second division, Darren Dyer's hat-trick and other efforts from Paul Cook and Simon Collier sealed a 5-1 triumph for Slingsby over Bagby & Balk, whose consolation was scored by Sam Leckenby.

Substitute John Alcock scored the winner after Fraser Russell had cancelled out Martin Winstanley-Smith's goal in St Clement's 2-1 defeat of Union Rovers Seconds.
