A WOMAN who claimed in court that she was a victim of a jailed York sex offender has called on a judge to "throw away the key".

The 42-year-old woman says her life was ruined by Michael Anderson, 41, of Huntington, who may be jailed indefinitely after a jury found him guilty of asking children to get into his car for sex.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was devastated when Anderson was acquitted of raping her in her home.

She said the incident, which allegedly took place nine years ago, had left her too frightened to trust men and wear skirts or makeup.

"They should lock him up and throw away the key. He is a dangerous man," she said.

"I'll always be frightened in case they let him out early and I bump into him in York."

Following Anderson's convictions for inciting young girls into sexual acts with him at York Crown Court on Monday, Judge Peter Benson ordered a psychiatric report. He may decide to lock him up indefinitely.

Although unable to draw comfort from the convictions, the woman has started to rebuild her life with the help of Victim Support.

She said: "I don't feel as though I got my justice. I feel as though I've been overlooked.

"Part of me wished I hadn't gone to court last year, because I was so scared and the jury believed his story and not mine.

"I'm too scared to wear a skirt or any makeup because I don't want to attract any attention to myself. I have terrible nightmares; I wish I'd never met him (Anderson) all those years ago."

When the rape case went to court last year, Anderson was already serving a three-year jail sentence for trying to induce two York seven-year-olds to commit an act of gross indecency with him, in what was described as a frightening campaign inspired by the Soham murders.
