A COMPANY which last year opened new offices in York to temporarily provide small and medium-sized businesses with financial hard-hitters has launched a new service.

Finance Directors Yorkshire Limited (FDYL) expanded from Bradford into the Westminster Business Park at Nether Poppleton to tap into the growing dynamism of York.

Now it has launched Finance Recruiting, which managing director John Holliss describes as "a new concept in senior finance management recruitment and retention".

Formed 19 years ago, the venture now has a team of 15, including ten experienced commercial directors, supported by three management accountants and a wealth of general management talent.

Typically, small businesses ask FDYL for help with business planning, finance planning, to give non-executive directorship or to help with company sales and acquisitions.

But increasingly the firm was being asked to help small and medium firms recruit staff, which is why the separate company was formed.

Andy Collier, a FDYL director, said: "Sometimes these ventures have grown quickly and need senior people in the middle of the organisation, so we are offering that service separately. We have spent a long time working with and understanding the business and recruitment needs of Yorkshire companies.

"We know very clearly what a business needs and can use this knowledge to help companies find, recruit and importantly keep their senior financial staff.

"We spend time ensuring that the right person is found, and that they fit in with the company's requirements and philosophy."
