ON-LOAN winger John Oster has been heavily fined by Leeds United after being cautioned by police over a nightclub brawl.

No charges were brought against the Welsh international, who is in the second month of a two-month loan from Sunderland, and he will play against Millwall at Elland Road tomorrow (3pm).

However, Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell has given the 26-year-old a severe tongue-lashing.

Furious Blackwell said: "I have explained clearly to John what is acceptable and what is not. We have been down this road in the past with other players and it is not acceptable to Leeds United any more.

"We are sick and tired as a football club of being in the papers for all the wrong reasons and it is not going to happen again while I am here and able to do something about it.

"John has been told in no uncertain terms what I think. He has been severely punished by us. The police have dealt with it and that is the end of the matter.

"I am not prepared to say what his punishment is because that is a matter between the club and the player.

"He is a professional footballer and he is in the right frame of mind to play."

Millwall's side tomorrow is expected to include Jody Morris, whose contract was cancelled by Leeds in March over alleged indiscipline off the pitch.

He was charged in November, 2003, with raping a 20-year-old woman but the charge was later dropped.

Blackwell believes Morris's departure was a factor in the club's relegation from the Premiership.

The Leeds manager said: "Jody loved playing here. He was a wholehearted player and in the end he proved to be a big loss to us. Our lack of midfield players came back to haunt us after he left.

"Certain allegations were made against him, he was proved innocent, yet he carried the can. He was up there to be shot at and, my word, was he shot!

"Unfortunately it cost him his career here, just as we were starting to see the best of him."

Leeds go into tomorrow's game with five players just one booking away from suspension - Danny Pugh, Gary Kelly, Sean Gregan, Simon Walton and Clarke Carlisle - and with Millwall noted for their physical approach, Blackwell fears the worst.

He said: "This is not the time I would have chosen to play Millwall. They are physically strong and aggressive as a team and you only have to look at their player-manager Dennis Wise and Kevin Muscat to know it's not going to be a match for the faint hearted. It is going to be a big tough game for big tough guys."

Matthew Kilgallon, Jermaine Wright and David Healy are expected to be fit, but there are doubts over Carlisle (ankle) and Frazer Richardson (knee).

Leeds are continuing talks with Scott Carson's agent after the England Under 21 goalkeeper rejected a new contract yesterday.
