Heslington will start 2005 as Leeper Hare York and District League division two leaders after a 2-1 win at Fulford.

The hosts took the lead with probably the quickest goal of the season, scoring straight from the kick-off through Andy Holmes.

It took Heslington until well into the second half to recover but two goals from the division's leading scorer, Simon Gatenby, ensured their seventh consecutive win.

Bottom club Stillington came back from 2-0 down at the interval to draw with second-placed Tockwith with goals from Glen Rae and old stager Jimmy Inman.

Two first-half goals from Strensall's Nigel Lyall put them ahead at home to White Horse but the Church Fenton side turned it round as Gary Rucklidge, Scott Griffiths and John Williams added to John Marshall's early goal for a 4-2 win.

The three home sides in division three failed to manage a goal between them.

Hemingbrough, despite constant second-half pressure, kept their unbeaten record intact and moved second in the table after they beat Norton 1-0 thanks to Richie Collins' goal just before the break.

LNER Builders recorded their first win in five after they beat Wheldrake 3-0 with goals from Liam King (2) and Ken Sharman, while Huby sneaked a 1-0 win at Bishop Wilton with Richie Durrant the marksmen.
