YORK Acorn ARL Under-13s produced a solid performance to notch their first win in the top flight against a strong Westgate side.

Tyler Dawson and Josh Peacock both crossed early on, man of the match Anthony Chilton goaling, with the visitors replying once for a 12-6 half-time score.

A converted length-of-the-field score from Peacock put Acorn in control and, although Westgate pulled a try back, a well placed kick Chilton kick saw George Holroyd touch down to complete the scoring.

Mathew Whinn and Jordan Hyde impressed in defence, while Stuart Leeke, Peacock, Dawson and James Mountford were outstanding.

Man of match Billy Legg scored two tries as Heworth U10s beat Garforth in an entertaining game.

Heworth took advantage of a strong wind and sloping pitch to race into an early lead, but Garforth hit back with a try either side of half time.

Legg made the game safe when creating a try for the speedy Alex Clough in the corner. Flannan Naismith also scored two tries, while Deighton and Legg booted a goal apiece. Most improved player was Ben Barker and top tackler was Spencer Mitchell.

Selby Warriors U12s won their fourth game on the bounce by winning 28-18 at Harehills Pigeons.

Josh Skilbeck scored a hat-trick and Chappell weighed in with two tries and a conversion for Selby, whose other points were kicked by Arron Sharpe and captain Connor Smith.

Skilbeck was named coach's choice as man of the match, Stevie Bell was top tackler and James Moore most improved.

Selby will entertain leaders New Earswick straight after the Christmas break.
