A great haircut isn't just for Christmas; it's for Boxing Day too. JO HAYWOOD seeks out three of the best for the festive season.

LOOKING for a new look? Well, look no further. Those sensational snippers at West Row in York have come up with three new styles to take you through Christmas and into the New Year.

Look 1: Janet

(styled by Simone Spencer)

Janet's hair was quite full which was creating a round look. To achieve a sleeker more flattering look, some of the weight needed to be taken out and the fringe softened. Simone then added texture to create a funkier look.

Styling Janet's party hair was all in the blow drying. The ends were blow dried out to create flicks while the rest was kept a lot looser and flatter. To finish, Simone applied Sebastian Shaper and Wella Volumagic to the roots to give lift and twisted the ends to create a choppy feel, giving Janet a younger, fresher look without any drastic changes.

Look 2: Danika

(styled by Louise Allen and Sally Braithwaite)

Danika has naturally straight hair and wanted a different look for Christmas. Working from the bottom upwards, Louise and Sally lightly sprayed small sections of hair with hairspray before using the BaByliss Triple Barrel Waver to create soft waves.

They worked the waver down each section, from the roots to the ends, and alternated the direction to create an almost crimped look. Each section was then sprayed with hairspray again to help the hair stay sleek.

To finish, the fringe was straightened and the rest of the hair was gently shaken to soften the waves.

Look 3: Kate (styled by Loretta Cater)

Loretta sprayed separate sections of Kate's hair with GHD Iron Oil to protect them before placing curling irons at the root, twisting them 180 degrees and slowly pulling the hair in the opposite direction to give the hair a soft curl.

She then caught each section and twisted it gently with her fingers, while giving it a light spray of hairspray. This was repeated all over the head, sometimes taking sections vertically or horizontally so the curls didn't look too uniform.

To finish, the fringe was straightened and the curls were worked through with Sebastian Cy-Clone to give definition, hold and shine.
