FOUR landlords who became fed up with their letting agents not returning calls and upsetting their tenants decided to join forces and go it alone.

The York Property Company was born with its directors - Pauline and Martin Cooper, Steve Boldison and Paul Spowart - working to the motto "we try harder".

The business, which is in the running for the Evening Press New Business of the Year title in this year's awards, opened in Stonegate in May without phone lines, computers or desks to its name.

But before long, the company had pulled out all the stops to fully equip the office - and a new property management computer system is now being written as another string to its bow for a faster, more effective operation.

The York Property Company endeavours to go the extra mile to build a reputation which is second to none.

It aims to provide a friendly, reliable letting and management service for landlords and tenants, and a comprehensive property search for investors and homebuyers.

York Property Company provides services such as residential letting, property management, while it also conducts property searches for tenants, investors and homebuyers.

It is also expanding into holiday lettings and Royal Ascot at York to boost its profile.
