DARREN Morfitt was inspired to set up his own locksmith and security business after going to the rescue of a relative who had lost her handbag and house keys.

Trained as a vehicle body technician, he was happy in his career of 16 years but felt ready for a new challenge.

"I had replaced locks in my own home and for family relatives," he said. "I enjoyed the task, and I was also very keen to start up my own business.

"What inspired me was when I replaced a front door lock one day. A family relative had lost her handbag containing house keys and identification."

After researching the idea, Darren set up his own York-based mobile lock-replacement, access and security business, Cross Keys Locks, in May this year. He is currently exploring the possibility of adding security alarms and CCTV to his business.
