CITY leaders have met in the latest stage of drawing up an action plan for guiding York into the future.
Members of the Without Walls partnership have discussed plans put forward by a consultancy firm asked to come up with a vision of how York could look in 2020. Ideas they came up with include introducing a major new visitor attraction to the city, building a bus station and applying for World Heritage status for the city.
At a meeting last night, Without Walls' partners discussed in greater detail some of the aspects looked at by the report, including crime, health and the environment.
Coun Dave Merrett, leader of the ruling Labour group on City of York Council who chairs Without Walls which was set up specifically to come up with ideas of how to develop York, said: "The report should catalyse further thoughts on what should and shouldn't be in that vision and I hope residents, local businesses and others will take the opportunity to look at it."
The partnership will now be asking residents for their opinions on the city's development.
