Alex Lloyd rounds up what's on offer in the nights before Christmas.

WITH a week to Christmas Eve, there are more parties and events to go to than hours in the day.

Or space in this newspaper for that matter, so I'll get straight to it. Those of you who have yet to buy any Christmas present for your nearest and dearest should ignore the following information, as you'll be spending the next few evenings battling with other shoppers.

Tomorrow night is The Project presents Merry Christmas at the Judges Lodgings, in Lendal, from 9pm to 2am.

The Good Vibe Soundsystem will be offering roots, dub and reggae in Room 1 while Phat Monkey will be mixing up breaks, electro and techno. Entry is £5.

If you haven't already checked out The Capital, on Low Ousegate, why not pop in on Sunday night for The Get Down, a free night of R 'n' B, hip hop and breaks from Jed 104 and guest DJs to put you in a good mood for the start of the week.

Those of you who don't have to work on Christmas Eve can start the celebrations early with a dose of funk at Mr Green's Xmas Bash, in the City Screen Basement Bar, next Thursday.

Onion Club favourite Chunky Butt Funky will be returning to make you dance and there will be a special treat of a late bar. Contact City Screen on 01904 541144 for more details.

When the presents are finally wrapped and the turkey ready to go, treat yourself to a drink or two at Toffs, in Toft Green, which will be hosting Christmas on Ice, on Christmas Eve from 10pm.

There will be spin the wheel drinks offers and free entry with a flyer before 11.30pm.

For those of you partying in Selby this Christmas, Club Seven, in Ousegate, has a packed line-up of events.

Next Thursday will be something a bit different with live sets from bands Scaramanga Six, Robochrist and Phluid between 8.30pm and 1am. Entry is £3 on the door and all proceeds go to charity.

On Boxing Day, R3ToX returns with three rooms of techno, progressive, house and breaks from 9pm to 2am. Leading the line-up will be a live PA by The Inspectorz. Tickets are £4 in advance, more on the night.

You'll no doubt be running low on cash by Bank Holiday Monday, so the club is offering free entry all night, and again on December 30, when it will be open between 10pm and 1am both nights.

Tickets for theses nights are available from Club Seven on 0845 166 1301.
