MY wife and I wish are concerned about the proposal to erect a big wheel on Tower Gardens. This seems to be totally out of harmony with one of the most historic parts of York.
We are very sceptical about the claim that a wheel would attract hundreds of thousands of extra visitors and we feel it would be equally likely to deter many of those who regularly return to York because they appreciate its unique qualities.
If the intention of the project is to attract tourists, it would be more sensible to put the wheel where it would not conflict with its surroundings.
