I AM disappointed to see that the Flying Scotsman will not start its excursions to Scarborough until the end of May because we have French friends making their first visit to England at the beginning of that month.
While appreciating the difficulties of the operators before the engine has its major overhall, only the attraction of actual travel on the Flying Scotsman would seem to me to justify the stated fares.
The condition that there is to be no refund if the famous engine cannot operate and alternative traction has to be used may well put people off altogether or tempt them to wait until the last minute to see if the famous engine does run.
