University Students 'A' remain unbeaten in their last six matches in men's division one of the York Badminton League after a 5-4 win over RI Tuesday/ Thursday 'A' followed by a 9-0 win at Riverside.

Chris Hunt and Manik Chakravarti starred for the Students by taking six wins from six rubbers for a two-match total of 195-84.

Shepherds stayed top in men's two after a 9-0 trouncing of Selby/ Drax 'B'. Steve Harker and Dave Simpson topped the home averages with three wins for 90-23.

Another excellent series from Bill Marley and Andrew Cooper saw them untroubled in taking three wins for a return of 92-41 as Tadcaster 86 won 7-2 at Knavesmire.

Huntington 'A' scored their second mixed two win, 6-3 over Nestl 'A'. Paul Moisley and Theresa Roberts-Hardy led the home revival with three wins, including a tough 9-15, 15-13, 15-12 win over Phil Grant and Brenda Drummond.

Sheriff Hutton had mixed fortunes with a tough 5-4 win over Nestl 'A' and a 6-3 defeat at Pocklington 'A'. Chris Schofield and Jo Wade were the pick of the Sheriff pairs with maximums in both matches.

Nestl 'B' lifted the spirits of the confectionery club with a 6-3 win over YUSC 'A'. Jeff Whittaker and Joyce Palmer led the home charge with a straight games maximum for a return of 92-47.

Clifton 'C' still lead mixed three helped by an 8-1 win over Huntington 'B'. Kevin Davison and Lorraine Ellis took three Clifton wins for a total of 90-22. Clive Debenham and Lisa Turner took the Huntington consolation with an 8 and 6 over Kate Wilson and Rob Shaw.

University Students 'C' have hit good mixed four form with wins over University Staff 'B', 6-3, and Market Weighton, 8-1. The campus battle between the students and staff saw the latter's Simon Fletcher and Sally Locker take two wins but lose 15-13, 8-15, 9-15 to the student pairing of P Clarke and C Bonner.

Middlethorpe beat Fulfordgate 'B' 5-4 in mixed five. Ann Oxley and Ian Thompson gave another consistent home performance with three wins for 92-51, including a 17-15, 15-9 win over the best Fulfordgate pair of Alan and Ruth Roberts.
