A FATAL crash on the A166 York to Bridlington Road at Gate Helmsley left one man dead and another seriously injured.
The incident happened at 10.30pm yesterday outside Gabriel Cottage at Gate Helmsley, when a black Audi A4, with four male occupants, lost control and overturned as it travelled towards York.
The road is a popular route for Bank Holiday motorists heading from York to the coast.
Police, fire and four ambulances attended the incident and one man was found dead at the scene.
Three other men, one with serious injuries and two suffering from shock and minor injuries, were all taken to York Hospital.
The police have yet to name any of the men and it is believed only one car was involved in the crash.
