MANY Leeds United fans - facing a big hike in season ticket prices next season - won't be rushing back to Elland Road unless they see some improvement on the pitch.

Generally Kevin Blackwell's side has under-achieved in a difficult season in front of their own fans.

Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wolves was a typical example with a revamped side struggling against modest opposition.

Mid-table Leeds have managed just seven Championship wins on their home turf this campaign and with some supporters facing the prospect of forking out considerably more to watch their team the onus on Saturday was to put on a decent show. But they failed to deliver and a repeat against Sheffield United tomorrow will further test the loyalty of the Whites' long-suffering fans.

A new-look line-up didn't help. Injuries had already forced Blackwell to stick teenage midfielder Simon Walton at right-back so it seemed curious that he should tinker with his formation still further.

Aaron Lennon, whose wing play has torn up defences since Christmas, found himself in central midfield playing behind central striker Rob Hulse with two other strikers Marlon King and Ian Moore on the flanks. King, largely right-footed, played on the left. It was lop-sided and a system the players failed to come to terms with.

Carl Cort's stooping head gave Wolves the lead but Shaun Derry brought Leeds level with a free-kick which went through the hands of goalkeeper Michael Oakes. Former York City netminder Bobby Mimms, now Wanderers' goalkeeping coach, will no doubt be getting Oakes to put in some extra time after his effort.

Derry was back in the side less than three weeks after undergoing knee surgery. The match also marked Seth Johnson's first start for nearly a year through injury.

Strikers Hulse and King picked up minor injuries which make them doubtful for tomorrow night's derby against the Blades, but midfielder Sean Gregan is back after suspension and Gary Kelly should also be available after a bout of tonsilitis.
