I WAS pleased to see my Green opponent has been so worried by Lib Dem campaigning in his ward he has chosen to write to the Evening Press to complain, illogically, we are somehow only campaigning hard in other seats.

He tries to dispute the figures in Focus about how close the Labour and Lib Dem votes were in the constituency in 2003, without doing his homework. This would verify we were just behind Labour in the seat, not counting the council wards in Ryedale, Vale of York, and Selby constituencies.

Curiously, he then tries to battle it out numerically with the Tories for third place.

There can be no doubt that Hugh Bayley has more reason to worry about the Lib Dems than his little Green band.

If York residents wish to register their objection to the illegal Iraq War, ID cards, and the attempts to abolish trial without jury they should vote Liberal Democrat.

Liberal Democrat Candidate, City of York,
