THE Labour Party appears to have let us down. However, on closer inspection they are slowly improving our standard of life.

What scares me is this insidious negative campaign by the Conservative "fantasy" party.

They are going to find billions for schools, police, transport, pensioners etc, but the double act of Letwin and Howard were asked three times about how much and the where and when, and avoided answering each time.

They exaggerate figures about MRSA, and practically accuse Blair of killing patients.

If this is the case the party who privatised hospital cleaners in the first place are also guilty.

As for Mr Booth, in one of his letters he rightly condemns Thatcher (isn't that treasonous for a Tory?) for removing the pension link between earnings and inflation and advocates returning the link for pensions with earnings and abolishing means-tested benefits.

But, if the link were restored, single pensioners would go from the basic £79.60 to £120 a week, a rise of £40. Great, but what he offers is "the Tories would give single pensioners an extra £7 a week."

That £7 less £300 winter fuel payment and Pension Credit etc leaves £0.

The misery caused by 18 years of Tory rule is well documented, so I urge you get out there and vote.

Whatever you do, please don't stay at home and let chaos return, get out there and vote.
