A BUMPER holiday crowd is expected at Headingley tomorrow when Yorkshire Phoenix take on Sussex Sharks with each side determined to keep their 100 per cent winning record intact in Division Two of the totesport League.

Yorkshire stick with the same side which has given them such a rousing start with wins over Surrey Lions and Somerset Sabres and director of cricket David Byas said he was sure the team would not have lost their rhythm after a week without any first team cricket.

"Apart from our two overseas professionals and Matthew Hoggard, all of the lads have played in Second XI fixtures against Durham at Headingley and New Rover and plenty of positive things have come out of these games," said Byas.

"I feel confident they have managed to retain the mindset that they were in until the break but Sussex are a talented team and we certainly won't be resting on our laurels."

Anthony McGrath is the only first team batsman so far without a half-century in either the totesport League or the Championship but he is in excellent form and on Thursday he astounded team-mates and their Durham opponents alike with his sizzling double century for the Seconds at Headingley.

In an astonishing display of big hitting, McGrath lashed 203 out of 322-2, thrashing 29 fours and six sixes off the 145 balls which he received.

In sharp contrast, Joe Sayers was 16 when McGrath strode to the wicket at 68-1 and the left-hander was still there when the game ended with 61 from 181 deliveries.

Sussex Sharks have only played one game to date, beating Derbyshire by two runs at Hove under the Duckworth-Lewis method for calculating rain-hit matches.

Yorkshire have held the upper hand against them in recent matches and they achieved the double last year, winning by five wickets at Headingley and eight wickets at Arundel.

Overall, however, there is little between the teams, Yorkshire winning 15 of the Sunday League encounters and Sussex 14.

Yorkshire Phoenix: Wood, White, Jaques, Lumb, McGrath, Harvey, Dawood, Dawson, Bresnan, Kruis, Hoggard.
