AFTER Coun Hall's letter ('So wrong on siting of new station', May 17) I am a little confused about exactly where things now stand on siting the proposed Haxby railway station.

However, at least it seems we all now agree that the old station site is not a viable location.

In his article in Focus, the Lib- Dem parliamentary candidate Mr Wilcock wrote: "The last thing we should be considering is any scheme that adds to the traffic in the Station Road/Towthorpe Road area of Haxby."

In his letter, Mr Hall says: "Traffic levels and congestion continue to increase at a rate greater than that envisaged."

My letter (August 6, 2004) set out the congestion problems on Station Road in detail.

So we all seem to be of the same mind.

Although I don't see a more logical and practical site than my suggestion of near to both York Road and the ring road, I wish Mr Hall and his colleagues every success in finding the optimum location for Haxby's long-promised railway station.
